About The Treena

Our Mission

Most environments have layers: the visible ones and the invisible ones that actually shape how they function.

The visible layers are easy to observe - job titles, roles, and formal processes. The invisible layers operate silently under the surface - hidden behavioral codes, unspoken norms and expectations, and pressures that affect how freely people in that environment can behave without facing negative consequences.

We're interested in factors like power (who actually has authority), incentives (who actually gets rewarded), status (who's actually seen as valuable), and norms (what behavior is actually expected).

And more importantly, we're interested in empowering people to leave any system that restricts authentic self-expression and personal autonomy.

Valerie Treena Chiang

Valerie has worked in over 15 industries and roles across 6 countries, collecting a wide variety of experiences, cultural knowledge, and insight into how different systems shape human behavior.

She holds a deep passion for anything that delves into the deeper realities under the surface of everyday life - true crime, documentaries, nomadic living, psychology, and social dynamics.

After leaving a toxic corporate work environment, she pursued a variety of personal projects, experimenting with the concept of self-expression and encouraging others to do the same.

Valerie's deepest core values are autonomy, freedom, and eudaemonia.
